Journalist Eni Ferhati stated that there was no meeting between the former deputy prime minister Arben Ahmetaj and the head of SPAK Altin Dumani in Basel, Switzerland.
Ferhati made the comments on the show “Now with Erla Mëhillin” on Euronews Albania, where he said that Dumani was in Switzerland for a meeting with the General Prosecutor of this country and for an organization that was being held there.
He also said that if there was an agreement from Ahmetaj to give a testimony, it would not be Dumani who would go to the meeting with him.
“SPAK has requested a 3-month extension of the investigation deadline for Ahmatej, for the faction connected with the incinerators, because the investigators need more time to compile the documentation.
In fact, there is another file for Ahmetaj, it is the famous file known as the “Buka” file, with the privatization of a state property that was transferred to a businessman.
Ahmetaj will be tried separately for these two cases. Ahmetaj is in Switzerland and has obtained a temporary residence permit, and if the deadline for him not to be made available to justice passes, his trial in absentia will also begin. Duman’s visit to Basel, Switzerland is not related to Ahmetaj’s case.
Dumani was there for a meeting with the General Prosecutor of Switzerland, but also with an organization that took place there with the heads of the Prosecutor’s Offices of several countries. In case there was a request from Ahmetaj to give a testimony, Duman himself would not go, even more so with the discourse that Ahmetaj had towards Duman”, said Ferhati.
