From Blendi Fevziu
Prenjo Imeraj is 89 years old. He came from New York to see the national team in Germany. This is how his nephew, Arben Imeraj, describes his desire:
“My uncle is a retired doctor. For more than 30 years, like many of us, he also emigrated, following his son who moved far away, to New York.
– Will you take me to Germany? – he asked his son, months ago.
– For what?
– I would like to see the matches of our national football team”.
– You are 89 years old, bro!
– Exactly, I don’t have much time to live.
– But you have never been to the stadium, where did this desire come from? – continues the son.
– Now it’s different.
– Can’t handle fatigue and overwork. Long journey can make you weak.
– On the contrary, it can regenerate me. I want to experience the atmosphere created by our fans, I want to celebrate too, see our players up close, I want to sing the national anthem together with other expats, me too. I love Albania…
– I have trouble with you, father.
– It is my last wish, son, my dream.
It is impossible to remain indifferent to such an innocent and sincere desire.
– Let it be done, ba! We are going to Germany!
… football is the most beautiful sport, it gives a lot of emotions. It gives joy, joy, enthusiasm, happiness, tears of joy.
But Albania is even more beautiful than football. She gives nothing but love.
Strength Albania… strength uncle!”
