The opposition protested yesterday with the motto “O today, o never” in front of the Prime Minister’s office on the boulevard “Dëshmorët e Kombit” against the “Rama” government.

Over 1,100 police forces were committed to the smooth running of the protest, which was the first in the square without the presence of Sali Berisha, who is under house arrest. Chief Democrat Berisha gave his speech from home and it was broadcast via video on the big screen installed on the boulevard.

The protest, which lasted 2 hours, was held on February 20 as a symbolic sign, since on this date in 1991 the bust of dictator Enver Hoxha was toppled. The message of this protest, as expressed by Berisha himself, is that “today the mission of civil disobedience has started to overthrow the government”. The protest was generally peaceful, with some small incidents, after the end of Sali Berisha’s speech, where some citizens threw cigarette butts and Molotov cocktails in the direction of the Prime Minister. Blue uniforms accompanied some protesters, after the molotov cocktails were thrown towards the police cordon in front of the Prime Minister’s building.

The opposition protest was accompanied by the throwing of pyrotechnics towards the blue uniforms, causing the security along the police cordon placed in front of the Prime Minister to be increased. In this protest, some of the MPs and former MPs of the PD gave speeches, and Sali Berisha was also ‘present’, through a video conference. During the protest, Argita Malltezi, who did not give a speech, but joined the crowd in the democrats, caught the eye of the square, but away from the podium.

The son of the former prime minister was also seen at the protest. Shkëlzen Berisha, like her sister, was also far from the podium. What has caught the eye is that Jorida Tabaku, who did not participate in the group’s meetings, was present at this gathering on February 20.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the DP parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi, from the opposition protest, gave the message that they will not surrender even though the war is unequal. Bardhi said that they will face the government and that they are not afraid, while he emphasized that the war is unequal. Messages were also conveyed by Flamur Noka, who in his speech said that Rama is no longer recognized as prime minister.
