In the next protest that took place this evening on “Mustafa Matohiti” street, in support of former prime minister Sali Berisha, his daughter Argita Malltezi spoke to the media. Asked if she had any communication with her father, she said: “Yes ! We live together.” As for Berisha’s condition, her daughter responded by saying that the head of Reestablishment is “at full speed with work and in full control of the situation”.

Regarding the first meeting of the DP Presidency with Berisha under house arrest, Malltezi emphasized that he remains inside every movement.

“Absolutely, Berisha is at the head of the DP and organizational issues have their own modalities. It is not to be discussed in a wider context than that. Berisha is totally inside the event and herself”, she said.

Asked if, in her judgement, as a lawyer, is Berisha’s communication with supporters from the balcony of the apartment a violation of the security measure, she stated: “Legally, it is completely permissible, because the Constitution provides in Article 17 that basic constitutional rights such as freedom of speech can only be limited by law, not by court decision. Edi Rama did the calculations wrong.”

Maltezi also stopped at Lulzim Basha.

“Lulzim is a finished story. Anyone sitting on a dead horse gets the math wrong, but that’s a personal matter. Lulzim Basha is finished and I say this with my full conviction.”

Malltezi also had a comment about the decision of the Independent Qualification Commission for judge Blerina Muçi, whom the DP accuses of having violated the law, by making Enkelejd Alibeajn a party to the judicial process regarding the seal.

“The KPK has said what is an ABC of law, that Blerina Muçi violated the law by naming Enkelejd Alibeaj as a party, and this is the truth. The process in question is one of the simplest in the procedural apex. The law is black and white about what records and how to record. It provides an analogy for commercial companies. This type of registration is done by the KKB, it is so simple as a process, and the court should have done the same. This is a statement of what happens in the courts of captured justice. The Supreme Court has remanded the case and given the Appellate Division a good whipping. I speak for the law and not for those who become spokesmen for the capture of justice. Lulzim Basha and unfortunately the lawyers in his group have forgotten what the law is and have turned into Edi Rama’s henchmen.”
