The chairman of Lévizje Bashke, Arlind Qori, is involved in a debate with the democratic deputy Dashnor Sula in the studio of the show “Now with Erla Mëhillit” on Euronews Albania.
Qori said that MPs in the Assembly find a common language when they want, as they did, according to him, when they came together to increase their salaries.
On the other hand, MP Sula said that he himself had voted against this initiative, i.e. for increasing the salary of MPs.
But Sula also said that increasing the salaries of MPs is not the main problem that the country has, since according to him, the main problem is the theft that the officials do to the state.
Excerpts from the studio conversation:
Qori: Sula complained a little earlier that the parties don’t get along, they don’t understand each other. But I remember a moment about 10 months ago, when about 130-140 deputies agreed to double their salary. It was an exemplary consensus.
Sula: I voted against it, FYI. It’s not even 130, it’s less.
Qori: In Albania, the normal pension that a pensioner receives is 100 thousand old lek. The ratio between the MP’s salary, the minimum or average salary, is one of the highest in Europe.
Sula: This is not the concern Arlind, not that I want to defend my colleagues. The concern is not to steal, man.
Qori: They both steal and double their salary.
Sula: The state has done something, because it is not in vain. I don’t agree with this idea of coming out and saying the deputies have done nothing.
