The lawyer Kreshnik Spahiu declared that Albania and Greece will overcome the diplomatic conflict that arose in connection with the elected mayor of Himara, Fredi Beleri.
Spahiu emphasized that an indicator of this is a door of cooperation that has been left open for Athens by Prime Minister Rama. According to him, the non-announcement of new elections in Himara is an ace up his sleeve that Rama will use to avoid a diplomatic clash.
“There will be a solution, one of the reasons why there is a solution is that Rama has left an open path for Greece by not holding early elections in Himara. Legally, elections should have been held in Himara. The fact that the elections are not being repeated shows that Rama is holding an ace in his pocket that he will take out at the right moment to reach an agreement with Greece and avoid this diplomatic conflict”, said Spahiu.
The lawyer also made an analysis of the reasons why Greece will not be able to block the integration processes of Albania in the EU.
“Why do I think that Greece will not be able to hinder the integration process? First, I think that the European Union will change the voting procedures and remove the veto in the enlargement process. So it will not allow a member state to block the membership of a state or several other states. Second, I think that Edi Rama will reach an agreement. I don’t say today or tomorrow, but within a year a solution will be found with Greece for Fredi Beleri. Thirdly, I think that Greece does not have the luxury to block Albania like 20 years ago, since unlike 20 years ago, Brussels and Washington have aligned themselves with Albania.
The simple reason is that the West is against Greece, as they do not want an ethnic conflict in the south of Albania”, said Spahiu.
