The Socialist Party does not seem concerned by the protest and the expected opposition meetings at the European Parliament in Strasbourg. The DP parliamentary group will be there next week to raise the concern of government manipulation of elections and to echo the demand for a technical government.
For the General Secretary of SP Blendi Klosi, such a political venture does not bring any consequences and is not likely to have any effect.
“It is not a matter of simply going to Strasbourg, but they need the consensus of the majority. The European parliamentary majority spoke through the opening of the EU negotiation process with Albania. But the protests, the meetings, the demands they will make have no effect on the path that Albania has chosen towards the European Union,” said Blendi Klosi in the show “No Censorship”.
The General Secretary of the SP dismissed any possibility that Albania will have a technical government before the elections.
“To ask for a technical government because you cannot win against Edi Rama and the SP, this is completely illogical. A technical government has zero chance, at all. Something must be understood. The race is between Edi Rama and Sali Berisha, who will be the next prime minister of Albania. So, it will be Edi Rama, president of the SP who has led the government for these 12 years with a series of achievements, the last one, the start of negotiations for membership with the EU and who has exceptional access to the EU, his government’s reforms are being approved from the European partners or Sali Berisha, president of the Democratic Party, declared non grata by the USA and the EU, with zero contact from the Euro-Atlantic partners of Albania, which also has its case in the new law. This is the race. They know that with Rama they will lose and they are looking for a technical government, because they think that the chances of winning increase” – said Mr. Klosi in the show “Pa Censure”, on RTSH.
