The former deputy of the Democratic Party, Belind Kelliçi, has stated that there is only one DP and the leader of this political force is Sali Berisha.
Kelliçi made his comments in Euronews Albania, where he said that the February 20 protest also showed this, which according to him was a message for the government and the international community.
He also said that in his opinion, not only 2 commissions, but even 80 if the government gives it to the opposition, with the new law, are irrelevant for the deputies to do their work.
“I do not deny that the Democratic Party has probably gone through the most difficult 2 and a half years of its political life, but these have also served to strengthen it and show its importance. That February 20 has been a clear message for the government, this is indisputable. It was also a clear message for internationals.
It is good news that even the internationals have called to reason, to recognize the political reality in the country. Like it or not, there is a PD and that PD is led by Sali Berisha. Then let’s start the discussion if DP should be opened, should invite new personalities, from the diaspora, etc.
Debates and discussions continue to take place in DP. This in my opinion is a very good thing. I personally think that not two commissions, not 8, but even 80 given to you by the government, are irrelevant for the opposition MPs to do their duty.
On the other hand, we are waiting to get what belongs to the opposition, the place at the table in the electoral reform and the right of parity. We are still in talks, nothing has been agreed upon. What will happen the next day, there will be an addition to the report in the McGonigal case, which will be filed in SPAK again, for the corruption that Prime Minister Edi Rama has done to one of the FBI agents”, said Kelliçi.
