A strong debate took place in the studio of the show “Opinion” yesterday evening, between journalist Berat Buzhala and activist Edlira Durmishaj, about the fact that women and girls in Albania should be covered with headscarves.
“To this day, I support the fact that the Albanian woman should not be completely covered”, said Buzhala, provoking the reaction of the activist, who told her that he was an “obsessive Islamophobe”.
During the debate, the journalist insisted even more strongly on his position, asserting that the burqa in Albania should be banned by law.
Edlira Durmishaj: I understand as long as you have personal problems… I remember that in the public space I got to know you in that writing about tents in Prizren and the headlines were quite harsh and the retorts…
Berat Buzhala: To this day, I support the fact that Albanian women should not be completely covered.
Edlira Durmishaj: You are an obsessive Islamophobe. Then.
Blendi Fevziu: Even now it is the same, it has not changed.
Berat Buzhala: Neither then nor now. I defend those attitudes that the burqa should be banned by law.
Edlira Durmishaj: I think it should be seen politically as well, the time has come for you to accept that we are here, man. We are here.
Berta Buzhala: I know you are here.
Edlira Durmishaj: We are, we don’t just breathe. But we are and are a factor. And this is again political.
