Starting from March 1, the common market between Albania, North Macedonia and Serbia will enter into force.

At the summit in Skopje, two protocols were signed between the three member states, Albania, Serbia and North Macedonia. Starting from this date, workers will move freely in the three states.

“We had some important things, there are always unpleasant details, but I don’t want to talk about it. And we have been waiting for this for months, which means that from March 1, what we talked about should finally come into force, which is a completely free labor market in the countries of the Open Balkans – Serbia, North Macedonia and Albania is great and important news and I think it will contribute a lot to creating a better business environment for local and foreign companies, to overcome the problem with the lack of labor force and to create a the labor market which is no longer six or seven million inhabitants, but if you add Albania and North Macedonia, we are approaching 11 million inhabitants”, said Vucic.

We recall that the prime minister of Albania, Edi Rama, in his statements made last year, hinted that everything about the Open Balkans had come to an end. In July 2023, Rama declared that the “Open Balkan” initiative had given its results and that it was now necessary to focus on the Berlin Process.
