Another photo of the former number two of the Rama government, Arben Ahmetaj, has recently been published.
The former deputy prime minister, who has been on the run for more than a year, is seen in the company of two people in a bar, thought to be in Switzerland, where the Albanian politician has been “sheltered” since July 2023.
In the published photo, Ahmetaj is seen drinking coffee and a cigar, while talking to several people whose identities are not clearly understood in the photo.
Arben Ahmetaj is on the run, and has been declared internationally wanted by SPAK, where he is suspected of having abused his office by causing economic damage to the state budget.
From Switzerland, where he has applied for asylum, the former deputy prime minister has refused to face Albanian justice, saying that the process and evidence have been manipulated to hit him politically.
He has said that he will face justice only when it is fair and true.
