The General Director of Prisons, Admir Abrija, has resigned from his post.

It is learned that Admir Abrija has submitted his resignation to the Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja.

His decision to leave office will be reviewed in a government meeting.

Admir Abrija holds the post of General Director of Prisons from December 2021.

But who is Admir Abrija?

Admir Abrija has held a number of important positions, from the Guard of the Republic, to the Customs and even as the Prefect of Tirana. Graduated in law, Abrija also has a lawyer’s license. He worked as a security officer of the Guard of the Republic in 1999, and then became a spokesman for this institution.

Later, he worked as Head of Security in the Presidency, at the time when this institution was headed by Bamir Topi. He also served in the ranks of the police, where he also held the position of manager, including the Border Directorate in Gjirokastër.

Further, Admir Abrija was appointed Deputy General Director of Customs, where he was subordinated to the anti-corruption and investigation sector. After this post, he would be appointed Prefect of Tirana, while today he is entrusted with the Directorate of Prisons.
