The Law Commission has approved in principle the draft law on Criminal Amnesty.
The draft law “On granting amnesty” was voted with 15 votes in favor and none against.
The Socialist Party needs 84 votes in the Assembly to approve the law on criminal amnesty, which the majority does not have.
According to the current amnesty law, 100 people who have received a definitive sentence, mainly on probation, benefit.
“I stand by my proposal, I don’t get involved in the positions in your proposals but get involved in a process, I am not an individual, it is a party that bears political responsibility for the impact in the future. We cannot enter into a process where the majority MPs bring amendments while our amendments are not accepted. I do not advise the adoption of a law by a majority qualified as fishing for individual votes in the Parliament, but it is not in the best interest of the legitimacy of an act”, said the deputy of the DP, Enkeled Alibeaj.
While the Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja, said that 700 convicts and 2.2 thousand convicts with probation will benefit.
