Cardiac surgeon Edvin Prifti has spoken about his truth regarding the money that was found in his apartment, during the investigations. He said in “Quo Vadis” that every penny is justified, but justice turned a blind eye and destroyed the evidence. Cardiac surgeon Edvin Prifti expressed that he is quite disappointed with how he was treated in Albania.
Interview:
Priest: By eavesdropping on me at home, everything that I do and have in my family. Focusing on these elements, and you know that I have a certain amount of money at home based on an agreement that I made. You come to me on February 9 and bring me a letter about the seizure of my work card, this is understandable what was happening, my house is raided 2 days later. I have not broken any law, Albanian law gives me the right to keep my savings wherever I want. Albanian law asks me for my origin.
Journalist: Do you have all of them justified?
Priest: Undoubtedly, they are justified with an accounting expertise that we filed on December 12-13, 2021. After 3 years on February 8, they tell me that we have this file, the file had flown.

Journalist: I was impressed by this part of the scientists that we were talking about earlier about the world ranking, your name is first, so is Genc Byrazeri, you are both in SPAK, it is a bit ironic the approach that Albania has in relation to scientists and in relation to science, are you disappointed in your country?
Priest: Yes.
Journalist: Do you feel disappointed.
Priest: I think that when I came to Albania, when I returned after 12 years.
Journalist: After an experience in Italy, Canada and the USA, why did you return?
Prifti: I returned for exclusively family reasons. Then, staying with the family, another relationship begins, then I got married to a girl. When I returned to Albania, I initially found a place that performed 250-300 operations per year with an open heart. There were two charters that left every day from Rinas to Istanbul with people who sold their apartments and were operated on in Turkey.
By SPAK, doctor Edvin Prifti is accused of “passive corruption” in 7 cases, “theft committed by abusing his position”, “hiding income” and “money laundering. The investigations against him were closed in February of this year, adding in addition to the charges of corruption, hiding income, money laundering, the charge of theft. It is about a grant that he was supposed to invest in the cardiology ward where he served at the QSUT, which according to the Prosecution he partially embezzled.
Edvin Prifti was arrested, then released, but has not yet returned to duty. Recently, a new file was even opened against him. Prifti was reported by a person who claims that he let his mother die and did not provide her with the necessary treatment after not receiving the money he requested. Prifti’s name also came up in the action to crack down on the drug trafficking group, and he is accused of involvement in the QSUT tender. Among the doctors, the names so far have come up are Edvin Prifti, Aurel Vula, Ilir Broqaj and Vladimir Peto. The businessmen under investigation are Aleksandër Gjoka and Ndue Pulaj.
