Enkelejd Alibeaj said that the new political party he will be part of will be a formation against the Rama-Berisha partnership.
“It is not the Alibeaj movement, nor the Alibeaj party. We are a number of colleagues inside the parliament, outside the parliament, without dealing with politics until now, who feel the need that a large part of the Albanian public today is unrepresented. The Rama-Berisha partnership, which has come to the fore especially in recent weeks. They came together to attack SPAK, the dialogue group, the electoral code. Apparently, they are together again at the Xhafaj commission, to hit SPAK. So today, the Albanian public, it is my conviction, needs representation”, said Alibeaj in an interview with Erion Dushin in the weekend diary on A2 CNN.
“For as long as we were the legitimate representatives of the Democratic Party, what was done was for the Democratic Party to really transform into a force, which had the sympathy and support of the public, gave support to the new justice system, gave the Albanians the right to vote for open lists and challenge Rama. But Berisha is in an open political partnership with Edi Rama. Therefore, Albanians have no other choice. That’s why I am convinced that they want something different”.
Although he refused to say who will be the leader of this political formation, Alibeaj said that the old figures will not be recycled, when he was asked if Lulzim Basha would be the leader of this party.
“The Democratic Party is a private party. The parliamentary group is a group of people who do what Sali Berisha tells them. That’s why I left. Respect for the people who follow him, but I distance myself. We won’t recycle anyone. This movement is not made to recycle someone. No! Keep this insert, pin it, because it will be like this forever. This group is open to anyone,” said Alibeaj on A2 CNN.
