The political leader of the Vlora region, Bujar Leskaj, has come out against the proposal that the leader of the DP Sali Berisha has made for the branch heads, who if they want to compete in the Primaries, will have to resign from the leadership of the DP branches.
In a long note on social networks, Leskaj emphasizes that the branch heads and secretaries are individuals, who are the only institutions within the Democratic Party to emerge from the vote of the Democrats with the principle of “one member, one vote”,
He adds that the political leaders must be those who submit to the primaries or otherwise be on the open list.
Leskaj’s post
The role of the institution of Branch Chairmen has been vital in all the developments that the Democratic Party has had in recent years, especially in the years of Re-establishment, for maintaining its spirit at the grassroots level, maintaining connections not only with the membership and base of the Democratic Party, but also for all forms of organizing its political activity.
The leadership of the Democratic Party should not forget that the Branch Chairmen were among the first to approach the re-establishment process and remained consistent during these years.
The Branch Chairmen of the Democratic Party, together with the Chairman of the DPA, Prof. Dr. Sali Berisha, are the only institutions within the Democratic Party to emerge from the vote of the Democrats with the principle of “one member, one vote”, as is the Secretary General, Mr. Flamur Noka, voted (by secret ballot and competition) by the National Council.
I would like to remind you that in the Vlora Region, we have Branch Chairmen who have been voted in twice, in the span of three years, in the DP Branches of Selenica and Saranda.
In my view, the Branch Chairmen of the Democratic Party do not have to resign from the position, which they have won and held with the vote of the Democratic Party membership, as a vote of confidence and a genuine primaries process.
Any change to this principle would constitute a violation of the democratic spirit that the Democratic Party represents.
Branch Chairmen and Secretaries are individuals who have carried out party activities in the branches of their cities, being the highest political valence of the spirit of the Democratic Party in the respective cities.
Primaries must first start with a vote of confidence towards the political leaders in the Regions or, conversely, any political leader who did not submit to the Primaries should be placed on the open list.
In my opinion, the heads and secretaries of the branches, whether aspirants or not for future deputies, must be qualified as trusted voters, to be nominated in the selection of candidates, in the construction of the final list.
The final list must/will of course be decided by the head of the Democratic Party and each candidate must accept in advance an ethical-political code in the unconditional respect of any position resulting from this decision.
Today, for the Democratic Party, it is necessary to synergize the structures, starting from the head Prof. Dr. Sali Berisha, the party leadership, the political leaders of the regions, the heads of the branches, their presidencies, each head and secretary of the group, section and section, the members and the undivided democrats, as a strategy of victory, which functions in harmony.
If one of these links breaks, it causes confusion, weakness, destabilization, and any distraction from these priorities and any mistake in the primaries would be greatly desired by/for our political opponents, who would take advantage of deepening their diversion against the Democratic Party.
Today, no mistake is forgiven us!
