“The swamp owl.” This has been a phrase that has not been absent from the vocabulary of Prime Minister Edi Rama, referring in this way to the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha.
But the latter decided to respond to the head of government this Friday in front of journalists. On the table where he sat to respond to the media, Berisha placed a white owl. In this way, he also explained what the owl symbolizes.
“So I cannot say that this is a gift for Edi Rama, because this is a symbol of wisdom, knowledge and decision not in centuries, but in millennia. And I decided to bring here before the media and before the Albanian public what poverty and cultural desert the man who quotes, who calls Sali Berisha every day, has, with the name of the most accomplished symbol of knowledge, wisdom and decision of Ancient Greece, of Ancient Rome. Athena and Minerva, the two well-known goddesses, one of the Greeks, the goddess of knowledge, and the Minerva of the Romans, the same, did not choose any other bird as a symbol of their mental power, but chose precisely the owl that became a beloved character for all civilized people. And Edi Rama thinks that he could insult me by calling me an owl. Ignorance is not an argument, says Latin. With that we close this part of the press conference”, said Berisha.
Asked if this move was a strategy to “burn” Rama’s public communication, the leader of the Democrats responded as follows:
“When you see the other person rolling, you can let him roll until the end, or you can stop him from the end. I introduced him to tell him you have a terrible deficit, you are calling your opponent the symbol of intelligence!”
