The opposition action in the Parliament has reached its goal, so there should be a new approach. This is what MP Ervin Salianji demands from his opposition colleagues. In an interview for A2 CNN, under the chairman of the parliamentary group of the Democratic Party, it is stated that the protest of the deputies has already achieved the objective of showing that the opposition is being denied its rights in the parliament. For this reason, he claims that new forms should be found, where he proposes meetings with citizens and protests.
“I think that we should stick to the demands we have, for investigative commissions, co-chairing the electoral reform commission and for the leadership of the parliamentary group. But in the meantime we need to diversify and find other forms of communication with the public and for imposing our ideas on society. I see it as a stock that has done most of its work. Now we have to speed up, including meetings with the people and protests with them”, said the deputy.
Discussions within the parliamentary group regarding the opposition’s strategies do not hinder the path to the unification process, Salianji asserts. The finalization of the process is imminent. Salianji admits that within the parliamentary group there are discussions about the action, where many MPs have different positions on the continuation or the protest. But this, he says, is not stopping them on their way to unification, a process that is nearing completion.
“There are not only efforts but there are concrete discussions about what the paths are, I believe that we are at the end of that process and I will make all the necessary efforts to achieve a very short result and why not take longer than two weeks”, said Salianji.
He does not see the judicial process against Sali Berisha as an obstacle, but he asks everyone to accept the reality and the former prime minister as the leader of the party.
“Whether we like it or not, Mr. Berisha has been confirmed as the leader of the opposition by the vote of the citizens. What confirms or dismisses you from a certain position is the vote of the democrats in this case, but also of the citizens who are informed, March 6 and May 14. Therefore, I see this as something that can be imposed by the parties, the imposition is done by vote”, he declared.
It seems that Lulzim Basha and his supporters will remain outside the process of unifying the democrats. For Ervin Salianji, Basha no longer represents the opposition people but is part of the government, so he wants no negotiations with him.
