The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, in a statement to the media, stated that the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, had fled Albania, two days after he was questioned by SPAK.
Berisha stated that Veliaj, this morning at around 05:15, had left in an unknown direction and requested that he return to Albania.
“Numerous news reports indicate that Erion Veliaj, the real co-owner of the Tirana incinerator, which is missing, of the 1 million tree forest that does not exist, of the 100 percent theft model with 5D, after officially receiving a series of charges, which ranged from 20 to 35 years in prison for the scale of the crime, today at 5:15 in the morning he left the country, according to rumors for the USA, but in reality the direction is unknown”, stated the leader of the Democrat.
He added: “On this occasion, I urgently request the return of Erion Veliaj to Tirana. I condemn this super-scandalous act in the strongest possible way.”
After Berisha’s statement, Erion Veliaj reacted, stating that he had traveled to the United States, since he is the mayor of Tirana and not non grata.
