Erion Veliaj has dismissed Anuela Ristan from the position of acting mayor of Tirana.
Veliaj, in his capacity as mayor of Tirana, has delegated this task to deputy mayor Sara Goxhaj.
It seems that the mayor has started the “revolt” from his cell by removing Rama’s favorite, to replace her with his loyalist.
“I ORDER: Mrs. Sara Goxhaj, Deputy Mayor of Tirana, to temporarily perform the duties of Mayor of Tirana,” the document reads.
The position of acting mayor of Tirana was held by deputy mayor Anuela Ristani, to whom Erion Veliaj delegated the signature after his arrest on February 10.
The decision was made in the presence of Prime Minister Edi Rama and the head of the Municipal Council, on the afternoon of February 11.

In accordance with article 8 point 2, article 59 point “I”, point “3” of law 139/2015 “On Local Self-Government”, as amended, articles 22, 28 and 29 of law no. 44/2015 “Code of Administrative Procedures of the Republic of Albania”, Regulation no. 46111 dated 29.12.2022 on “Approval, Organization, Functioning, Duties and Responsibilities of the Institutional Structures of the Municipality of Tirana”,
I ORDER:
Ms. Sara Goxhaj, Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Tirana, to temporarily perform the duties of the Mayor of the Municipality of Tirana.
The period of exercising the delegated powers begins on 19.03.2025, until a second order.
Order no. 366, dated 14.02.2025 “On the temporary delegation of the duties of the Mayor of Tirana”, is repealed.
The Secretary General, the Cabinet of the Mayor, the General Directorate of Internal Administration, the General Directorate of Media and Communication with Citizens are charged with the implementation of this order.
This order shall enter into force immediately and shall be announced on the public notice board of the Municipality of Tirana.
