The candidate of the “Bashkë Fitojmë” coalition for the Tirana City Council, Ilir Alimehmeti, says that the promise of free transportation in Tirana will have a cost of about 16.8 million euros per year.

Invited to the show “Write on the ice” on Zjarr Television, Alimehmeti said that for tickets and annual subscription, both have this cost.

“The year before the pandemic was the highest number of passengers in public transport in Tirana. The total number is 28, 666, 000 tickets. The number of subscribers is 490,546. Combined in one cost, both amount to 16.79 million euros per year. We will allocate a fund of 5 million euros per year to modernize the bus fleet in order to have hybrid buses in the future to reduce maintenance costs, to reduce fuel, and to modernize bus stations where today you don’t have any distinguishing mark”- Alimehmeti added.
