The chances that the grouping in the PD known as “Reestablishment” and those who are part of the official Democratic Party will unite seem to be slim. This was hinted at today by the statements of the General Secretary of the PD, Enkelejd Alibeaj.

Invited to “Ditari i Endjava” with Erion Dushin, Alibeaj made it clear that as long as the deputies who support Sali Berisha have openly opposed the work that SPAK is doing, there can be no union.

When asked if the Democratic Party can win the elections in the face of the majority as it is today, Alibeaj pointed out that in 2021, only 48% of Albanians voted for the socialist majority.

“In 2021, the mass of Albanians who do not want this majority was greater than those who vote for it. So, the basic premise is to defeat this government together,” he said.

However, the PD lost in the April 2021 elections, even though it was united, and the reason for this, according to Alibeaj, was the fact that the offer of the right was not convincing to the citizens.

“There were old governance models in DP,” he added.

The General Secretary of the DP says that his group needs more allies to defeat the majority, and by allies he means the citizens.

Meanwhile, focusing on the “fight” that is taking place for the chair of the co-chairman of the Electoral Reform Commission, Alibeaj rejected the accusations that he may be serving the majority.

The democratic deputy emphasized that he will use the veto in his hand only to “stop the whims of the majority.”

And apparently Enkelejd Alibeaj will not give up the co-chairman’s chair even for the sake of the union, since as he said, as long as there is an opposition “for” and one against SPAK, there cannot be place for finding a consensus.
