The Day of the Blessed Water is a holiday of the Orthodox believers throughout the country. Dozens of young people across the country have participated in the ceremony of throwing the cross into rivers, seas or fountains.
In the processions of the aqueduct from Orthodox churches, first the mass ends and then the line of believers is directed to the place where the cross is thrown.
The young people of Vlora, Berat, Elbasan, Korça and other cities in Albania have defied the low temperatures to become part of the Epiphany, in a ritual that declares the winner the one who takes it out of the water and delivers it to the metropolitan, for to receive the last blessing.
This religious rite of the Orthodox faith is marked as the day of the Holy Trinity, when Christ was baptized in the waters of the Jordan River by John the Baptist.
Today all the waters that flow are from God and everyone rushes to fill water and store it for a year at home as water will be safe until the last year.
