33 years ago, Albanians did not know Sali Berisha. Many, many knew only those who happened to be his patients, as one of the most vocal cardiologists in the country, and the few who read the press of the late 80s and early 90s where he began to write his first political articles.
Albanians filled the squares and supported him without recognizing him at the time. This happens naturally with any politician who has the charisma, eloquence and makes his destiny to take him to the right place at the right time.
Three decades have passed since then. Albanians know Sali Berisha well as they have had him as president, prime minister and opposition leader.
Would he be able to fill the square, would they support a politician they have known for 33 years to such an extent, if they did not recognize him as a true and fair politician?
Never! Not only that, but if they did not recognize him, with the conditions that were created, they would abandon him spectacularly.
Non grata paid with money stolen from the pockets of Albanians, made Sali Berisha break every political law on the continent, maybe even beyond.
They declared him non grata without evidence, they failed.
They offered him a compromise after declaring that they saw that they were wrong, he refused.
They took the symbols of the party, defeated them with all of them.
He was imprisoned, he filled the square several times.
A politician who repeats the same protest twice (20 February ’91 – 20 February 2024), on the same day, with the same symbolism, almost of the same size, but with 33 years in between, this will be written in the history books .
What makes this man at such an age, with such a political lifespan and under such attack conditions, break every political and human law and triumph?!!!
The right and the truth.
Only hypocrites believe that intrigue is the strongest weapon of politics and politicians.
Only the mediocre believe that the truth is, only, with the strongest.
Right and truth are the two strongest weapons that Sali Berisha had in his hand in this battle, which he won.
The pens will write, what they will not write, about the mass protest, but this will only strengthen the right and the truth even more.
What a spectacular exercise for right, truth and democracy this man is doing!!!
