After 12 years, the Kukësi Football Club will no longer be the financing of the Gjici family. So far it has been reported about a 100% stake sale, but Report TV learns that the club has been donated for an indefinite period to a businessman, whose profile will be officially learned on Saturday when Kukësi holds a special conference for Press.
However, it is also learned through sources that the new administrator will be the businessman Atilio Guranjaku and not a Lithuanian as was said earlier.
The condition for using the club is not to sell it, as the Gjici family wants to return as the owner of FK Kukës in the not-too-distant future. The enigma at the moment is the fact of what businesses Atilio Guranjaku represents.
The difficulties of the Kukës club started from the arrest of the former president and mayor Safet Gjici, already sentenced to serve 3 years in prison. Under the leadership of Gjic, the northeasterners had the most successful period in their history.
In 12 years, Kukësi managed to win 4 trophies, the Super League in the 2016-2017 season, the Albanian Super Cup in the 2015-2016 season and twice the Albanian Cup in the 2015-2016 and 2018-2019 seasons. For the first time since the administration by the Gjici family, last season in 2023-2024, Kukësi was relegated to the first category.
