Journalist Roland Qafoku spoke on the morning show ‘Kafe Shqeto’ on SYRI TV, about the publication of the wiretaps of Erion Veliaj, describing it as a scandal of great proportions. According to him, this is not just a detail of a file, but an event that requires an in-depth and comprehensive investigation to uncover the truth.
Qafoku also emphasized that the most serious thing at this moment is the launch of a general investigation to discover how the information was stolen and manipulated, emphasizing the importance of security in such systems.
He drew a parallel with the Watergate scandal and recalled that a journalist who receives such material has no choice but to publish it. According to him, this scandal occurred in one of the most important institutions of justice, and it must be uncovered without delay.
Roland Qafoku: “I think that the most serious thing at this moment is that a general, exhaustive investigation should be conducted into everything that happened. This is a scandal of great proportions, it is not simply a detail of a file.
And in my opinion, there are several elements. The most serious is the extraction or the way in which they are stolen, withdrawn, taken and inserted into a system that we think is the safest. Of course, the part of the disclosure, in any circumstances, a journalist who gets his hands on a material and publishes it, does not think twice, this is not in question.
We have the polar star of this style, we have Watergate, and the editor-in-chief of the Washington Post, did nothing else but send those wiretaps for Watergate by mail and he published them. And we all know what happened next.
In this way, I think that the most serious thing at this moment is to launch a general, comprehensive investigation into everything that happened. Because this is not “It’s a minor incident. This is a scandal of great proportions that has happened and the most serious that could happen in an institution that we consider the most important of justice.”
