The Special Prosecution Office decided that SPAK should reinvestigate the file indicting former minister Olta Xhaçka and former MP Artan Gaçi for an investment in the Ionian coast.
Journalist Klodiana Lala, invited to the show “Të Paekspozuarit” on MCN TV, said that Xhaçka and Gaçi are not defendants, but she listed several dark points in this file that she said were not investigated.
“The court did not order that Olta Xhaçka and her husband, former SP MP Artan Gaçi, be taken as defendants, but it obliges SPAK to register criminal proceedings for the criminal offenses of money laundering and forgery of documents for Mr. Artan Gaçi and suspicions of abuse of office for former minister Olta Xhaçka.
That case is uninvestigated in several aspects. It has not been clarified by the Special Prosecution that Artan Gaçi entered into a preliminary contract with a member of the Mëhilli family, a year before the property was registered in the mortgage and it does not explain to us whether or not Artyan Gaçi played a role in obtaining the property and registering it in the mortgage during this time. It has not been clarified to us how the company was registered and the connection with the former mayor of Himara, Jorgo Goro, and that there was an interest in this property passing to the final beneficiary Artan Gaçi.
It has not been clarified what comes out of the results of the investigation of Artan Gaçi’s mobile phone, what from the interrogation of the persons involved, the examination of the phone of Jorgo Goro and other arrested persons.
Another point that has not been clarified is the price. It is a land that was bought for 21 euros per square meter, while the market price in that area starts at 150 euros and why did this person sell the property so cheaply in this coveted coastal area?
Has Ms. Xhaçka declared this conflict of interest, from that partner who is an American citizen and who is Ms. Xhaçka’s sister-in-law and why did she bring her here and not declare this conflict of interest.
So these questions make me suspect that this issue was not investigated from the beginning. “The court has ordered SPAK to resume the investigations, and we must wait for the Appeal to see what it means for SPAK’s position that Xhaçka and Gaçi were not implicated,” said Lala.
