Jakup Shahu, the 52-year-old man who stabbed his wife with a knife in the early hours of this morning (May 23) is a well-known name for the Albanian police.
13 years ago, specifically on September 7, 2011, at that time 39 years old, Jakup (Arben) Shahu killed Arjan Mejdani with a firearm.
Meanwhile, several other people were also involved in that event, who were injured.
The people belong to the Roma community, and the event of 13 years ago also happened for reasons of jealousy.
After this event, the author Jakup Shahu was sentenced to 13 years in prison, and a short time ago he was released, but as soon as he came out, he was again involved in the event, this time injuring his wife.
The story of Jakup Shah
Jakup (Arben) Shahu shot dead Arjan Mejdani, then 28 years old, on September 7, 2011 at around 8:40 p.m., in the “Selitë” neighborhood, on “Irfan Tomini” street in Tirana.
The perpetrator of the crime, citizen Agron Isiu, as well as the victims, Bujar Mejdani and Arben Muharremi, were involved in the fight (the latter two were injured).
Jakup Shahu, who shot dead 28-year-old Arjan Mejdani, was arrested after the incident, while Agron Isiu su, the author of wounding two people injured in the incident, Bujar Mejdani and Arben Muharremi.
The victim, the injured and the perpetrators, who belong to the Roma community, had a conflict for reasons of jealousy, a conflict that had tragic consequences.
The quarrel between Jakup Shah and the victim, Arjan Mejdani, was caused by the continuous conflict of their wives. The wives of the two protagonists of the event claimed adultery.
After the event, the perpetrators escaped but were left in the mud by the car they were trying to leave Tirana with. The vehicle was not supplied with enough fuel, leaving it in the middle of the road, near the Customs roundabout, in the direction of the Kamza Turn.
They were caught red-handed when they were pushing the car towards the nearest gas station and were arrested. The police said that as material evidence they seized a 7.62 mm pistol, model 54 TT, and an automatic comb with cartridges.

One person was killed and two others were injured during the armed conflict between the residents of the Roma community in the headquarters of Tirana. The event happened around 20:40 on September 7, in the middle of the buildings where the majority of the Roma community lives.
The police and eyewitnesses said that the event could have had even greater proportions if the author had not been blocked from the “Kalashnikov” type automatic weapon, with which he killed and wounded two people.
28-year-old Arjan Mejdani was seriously injured and died 15 minutes after arriving at the Military Hospital. While his father, Bujar Mejdani, and the latter’s brother-in-law, Arben Muharremi, were injured.
The wife of the suspect Jakup Shahu, a week before the incident, went to the victim’s bar, where the murder took place, and started arguing with the wife of Arjan Mejdani, accusing her of taking her husband.
There, the conflict started between the two wives, first with words and then they started hitting each other with hard objects. During this debate, the members of the victim’s family were also present, who intervened, temporarily ending the violence between them. The fight has continued almost every day.
According to witnesses, both women, whenever they met on the street or in a bar, fought with each other, grabbing each other’s hair, until other people went to separate them. The victim Arjan Mejdani was made aware of this ongoing conflict, who was told by his relatives, but also by other residents of the neighborhood who had seen the constant fights between his wife and the author’s wife.
After hearing the version of his wife, with whom he had 3 children, Mejdani went to meet Jakup Shahu, who lived near his house. Arguing with him, Shah’s wife intervened, who also narrated the story of betrayal by her husband and the victim’s wife. This debate took place two days before the crime took place.
According to sources from the investigative group, this was also the cause of the debate that started before the weapons were used. Initially, the victim and the injured started arguing with the two perpetrators in their bar, and then they took out their weapons from a “dum-dum” that was parked in front of the bar and started shooting at them.
