AKU is claimed to guarantee food safety in the country, but it is precisely the inspectors of this institution who, contrary to any protocol of their work, violate the safety of consumers. It was KLSH that, after an audit carried out in the Regional Directorate of AKU, Tirana District, found violations by the inspectors.
More specifically, during the inspection carried out by AKU inspectors in meat shops and markets, they confiscated meat that was traded outside of hygiene conditions, unsealed and uncertified. So far they have done their job, but the problem starts later.
The question arises, where did they take the meat that had to be destroyed?
According to KLSH, they sent it to 2 meat processing factories, specifically to the Kazazi factory and Balcon Zoo Farm. Further, in the state control report, it is stated that this meat intended for burial could not at any time be sent to 2 private companies that are themselves subject to inspection by the AKU, moreover, this institution does not have any lease contract with Kazazi and Balcon Zoo Farm to make cold storage facilities available within their facility.
The scandal deepens as no entry form is administered to the blocked meat factory, moreover, there is no document proving that the meat destined for burial has been disposed of.
The alarm was raised by KLSH itself, which states that after the delivery of the meat to the Kazazi entity, there is a possibility that this meat will be processed and reintroduced to the market.
It is not known where this amount of trapped meat ended up as no photos are available of its disposal.
