The vice-president of the Democratic Party Roland Bejko, invited to the News24 studio, commented on the latest developments in the country, as well as revealed the position of the political force to which he belongs.
Bejko stated that PD has distanced itself not only from Berisha, but from what he called “Berishism”, which according to him summarizes the elements that portray a political figure as authoritarian.
According to him, the Democratic Party has continued its political action and has continued with the process of internal organization of the party, while he revealed that by the end of March it is expected that the list of candidates for deputies in the parliamentary elections will be released.
He emphasized that he expects Basha and the other democrats close to him to articulate politically and be closer to the citizens to present their proposals.
As for the case of former Prime Minister Berisha, he said that the end of such leaders is loneliness, stating that only “collaborators who changed their skin” gathered under his apartment.
“We have not only distanced ourselves from Berisha, but from Berishism, which summarizes the elements that portray a political figure as authoritarian. Berisha, like Rama, ignores the law, creates paramilitary forces to oppose the law and delegitimize political opponents and those who are not on Berisha’s agenda, he also introduces justice, which he calls a criminal gang, and places the head of SPAK with the criminals of this country. We distance ourselves from acts of violence in parliament. We expect those in the parliament to give opportunities for the development of reforms.
DP MPs have reacted to the issues of the day from headquarters because the parliament has been on fire and when the flares of Berishism were lit they voted against the budget. PD MPs have gone to conferences taking the budget items one by one. In the absence of conditions to present the opinion in the parliament hall where it was set on fire by Berisha and Rama, they went to the headquarters.
During the time that Berisha was in pre-political actions, PD was in political actions. DP has presented several initiatives. PD has its own strategy. We came out of a difficult situation of existence, the structures were traumatized. As a result, PD has been organizing from within. When the Congress ended, Basha was on the ground meeting the democrats and explaining our agenda to them. Without fixing our yard we cannot pretend that others are willing to join us.
After the elections for the party structures were held, we are in the process of electing the heads of the branches. By the end of March, the list of candidates for deputies in the parliamentary elections will be published. DP has an urgent need to get its team out in the field and be close to the citizens. What I expect from Basha and DP is that we all articulate politically and that the citizens listen to our proposals for change and development of the country.
I have a lot of faith in SPAK, I don’t believe that Rama is behind it. SPAK’s phone has been cut off with Rama and communicates only with Washington. The leaders of SPAK do not see the Albanian news at all, but only those in the USA. Berisha, with the return he made, creating a coup to turn the PD into his own and his own family’s bunker, did nothing but damage the PD and antagonize the Democrats. The end of such leaders is loneliness. Just look at who gathers there on the street, only his co-workers who changed their skin, from poor people he made them very rich by not working for a day. The re-establishment has already been lost, it is in an unknown direction”, said Bejko, among others.
