Thousands of citizens gathered in front of the town hall with banners in their hands and chanting “thief, thief: they threw eggs and apples at the walls of the Town Hall.
The main exponents of the opposition were also part of the protest, but according to them, they had gone there as protesters, since the protest was organized by the “Theater Protection Alliance”.
“We are in the role of protesters. To our knowledge, this protest was organized by the Alliance for the Protection of the Theater, a citizen’s protest. The citizens are protesting that here they have the symbol of Babazi and the head of the incinerator of Tirana. Today we are in the role of a citizen in this protest. The member of the Presidency of the DP, Belind Kelliçi, said that at the time when the citizens are protesting, the head of the Municipality of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, is going to lunch with the rest of the “5D” gang at the Nari restaurant in Lundër. He considered Nari as a bandit who has robbed the peasants’ lands.

“This is the first protest demanding the resignation of a thug who stands at the head of the municipality to steal your taxes. Whether you get arrested or not, it’s not my problem, leave the City Hall an hour before. You thief, who with the 5D gang terrorized the citizens of Tirana on May 14, where you have Taulant Tusha, Mariglen Qato, Redi Molla, where you will soon have Erion Rrajan and Kombinati, where you have Englangina Zeren. Where are you thugs who have not left your tax and vote without stealing. We promise the citizens that this gang hiding within the walls of the municipality, led by Erion Veliaj, will all go to prison. Justice will be served in the country. This battle is not to remove one mayor and install another, it is to dismantle a governing philosophy that is based on doing wrong to citizens and stealing your taxes and assets. Today we are not only talking about the citizens of Tirana, about mother Liza whose house you stole, the residents of Unaza, Myslym Ketë. Therefore, I call on you to systematically continue to gather in protests in front of the municipality, until the departure of Erion Veliaj. We do not forgive Ardi Gjoklajn, we owe him to his family. Millions of euros were given for Tirana’s incinerator and there is no incinerator. You have turned Tirana into a money laundering laundromat. Argita Malltezi, the daughter of the democratic leader Sali Berisha, who wore a T-shirt with a message for her father, also joined the protest. “Free the leader of the Opposition” was written on Argita’s T-shirt, while the chief democrat, Sali Berisha, was above the writing.
In a statement to the media, Malltezi considered Veliaj as an ugly copy of Prime Minister Edi Rama, that if they don’t want a prime minister after him, the citizens should react. According to her, SPAK has not carried out any investigation on Veliaj for this matter, but aimed to minimize it.
“The pronunciation is in the participation and the reason for calling the protest. You see how the violence has grown so thick that it has reached proportions unimaginable before. The state’s money goes into the pockets of the rulers on a sunny day and is justified by Veliaj as technical problems with the organization. These things never happen unless the owner has a stake. We have not seen an investigation by SPAK on this issue regarding Erion Veliaj, and there are also attempts to minimize the qualification of the criminal offense as abuse of duty while this is a flagrant theft of millions of euros. The popular protest and reaction will serve to bring down the system which is a cancer for the society but also for the closure of a system for all those who want to raise children in Albania. I hope the protest will be widely supported. This is the mayor who will be prime minister. If you want an ugly copy of Rama in power then don’t react.” – said Malltezi.
Also, present at the protest was the head of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, who said that SPAK should “wake up” and investigate Erion Veliaj since the capital, through constructions without criteria, has become “the biggest money laundering launderer” from organized crime”. Meta also promised that he will return the Municipality of Tirana to the citizens very soon.
“In Tirana dozens of families are on the streets and Veliaj has taken out mother Liza in the middle of the street, he has also taken out mothers with babies from their homes with gas, Tirana is the biggest launderer of organized crime money. the opposition should start from those councilors who don’t fight like the councilors who spoke here, Come on mother Liza, you woman. “From the sources of evidence collected in the framework of the investigations of this criminal proceeding, reasonable doubts have been created that the citizens Redi Molla and Mariglen Qato are the real partners and “de facto” owners of the company “5D Konstruksion” sh.p.k. Citizens Redi Molla and Mariglen Qato have owned this commercial company indirectly, using other persons, citizens Eduard Meta, Muhamet Petriti and Nestor Muhametllari, as fictitious partners in the acts of registration and operation of the company, with whom the real partners of society have had social ties and friendly ties. From the investigative actions carried out, it has been proven that the commercial company “V.A.S Konstruksion” sh.p.k., the same as “5D Konstruksion” sh.p.k., participated and was declared the winner in violation of the public procurement rules, in some organized procurement procedures by the contracting authority Tirana Municipality.” – it was said in the announcement of SPAK.
