Safet Hasani, a fisherman from Darragjat in Shkodra, has told the moment of horror, where he was confronted with the lifeless body of the 9-year-old girl, who drowned in the Buna river.

He says that it was 21:00 on May 4, when he was accidentally found in front of a body under water. Shocked by that sight, the fisherman prayed to God that the corpse of the 9-year-old girl he found drowned was a doll and not a person.

The fisherman notified the police and after sending them with his boat a few meters behind the bend of Darragjat in Dajç, it was confirmed that the dead body belongs to a 9-year-old girl, one of the three children who drowned together with their mother Alma Arrazi.

“I was fishing and climbing to a water line just below the Darragjat vent, it was dark and I had to turn on my phone light to see if there were any propellers on the ground. At the bottom of the water it made me suspicious because it was 1 meter and a little water and I didn’t know if it was a doll or a person. At the moment I was shocked because it occurred to me that it is not human. I got the police on the phone after a few minutes and they came right away. I came with my boat and took them here to Darragjat venti and we went to the place. After the police took him over, it was found that he was a man. I was shocked because I said, “Ishalla is not a person to feel sorry for, but then it occurred to me to call the police because it was something I hadn’t even heard in the news about a missing person or who drowned or not,” he said.

For three days, the fisherman, a good acquaintance of the Drin River and that area, has been helping the police and RENEA rescuers together with other residents, in the search for the other bodies of the Arrazi family, the mother and two children who they are also suspected of having committed suicide. Fisherman Hasani says that it remains difficult to find the bodies due to the unsuitable terrain…

“I’m at work all day but sometimes I also go out to fish. After this serious incident, I am very sorry because we have children ourselves, a very serious case. I came to the aid of the police and the RENEA forces throughout yesterday and I will continue to come to their aid, they are very effective, I will help them because we are human. Last night it was difficult to search because the terrain here is not favorable to find the other bodies, it is difficult at the moment but everything is being done. The groups continue their search even today, the state police, the border police are engaged. Even we residents have come to help as much as we have, with our boats”, said the fisherman.

The fisherman and other residents of the area will continue to be mobilized to help the police in this difficult operation to find three more dead bodies that are suspected to have committed suicide.
