The opposition will hold the next national protest called by the Democratic Party this Saturday.

It is learned that unlike past protests, where the main axes of the capital were blocked, today’s rally will be concentrated in front of the Prime Minister’s Office, while speeches will also be made to militants.

A day earlier, Sali Berisha pointed out that the basis of today’s protest is the corruption of the majority and the luxury in which, according to him, Edi Rama lives. He also used for these accusations the public statements of the former number 2 of the government, Arben Ahmetaj, given in a television interview a short time ago.

The authorities announced that the permission requested from the Tirana Police is for a three-hour rally, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

The police have taken the following measures to maintain security: restricting the movement of vehicles on several road axes/segments, more specifically:

-From 10:00, vehicles will not be allowed to park on the “Dëshmorët e Kombit” boulevard, on the “Mother Teresa” square, on the “Ismail Qemali” street, from the intersection of Elbasani Street with “Ibrahim Rrugova” street, on the “Papa Gjon Pali II” street, on the “Jeanne D’Ark” boulevard and the “Bajram Curri” boulevard, from the intersection of Elbasani Street with “Ibrahim Rugova” street;

-From 14:00 until the end of the rally, there will be a blockage of vehicle movement on the “Dëshmorët e Kombit” boulevard, from the intersection near the Ministry of Interior to the “Mother Teresa” square, as well as on the “Ukraine e Lirë”, “Papa Gjon Pali II” and “Ismail Qemali” streets.

The police announce that depending on the development of the rally, there may be restrictions on the movement of vehicles on other road axes. In case of blockage, to help citizens who will circulate on these axes, the State Police has taken measures to divert vehicle traffic to alternative routes.

A day earlier, Sali Berisha gathered at the blue headquarters and the allies of the United Opposition Federation, where the focus of discussions was today’s protest and the May 11 elections. He called on every opposition party to join them against evil, as he considers the socialist majority.

“This meeting of the opposition Federation comes on the eve of the great opposition protest, in which the opposition people will prove to the Albanians and the world that Edi Rama today represents the head of the narco-state and with the shocking evidence based on authentic original documents and the physical presence of Arben Ahmetaj, he is today a major delinquent at the head of a criminal organization, which we have branded over time. But it goes without saying that when that evidence comes with documents from his closest associate in 10 years, they are irrefutable proof of the deep incrimination of Edi Rama. But this meeting and this gathering is very important for the further consolidation of the opposition front against this evil incomparable to any other evil since the Hoxha dictatorship until today. The union of all opposition potentials against Edi Rama, against Rilindja which is today synonymous with crime, synonymous with a regime that in the political dictionary of all times, has a term: the regime of kakistocracy that summarizes all the evils that a government can do to a country. And in fact, a government that drives 40-45 percent of the people from their homes in 10 years, is the worst that this people has known in its history. The time is for a broad opposition front, and therefore I invite all political forces that feel themselves opposition, consider themselves opposition, regardless of any disagreements they may have with each other, to unite in this front to successfully confront this evil that we have before us. Because this unity is of decisive importance. There are those who have many objections to this force or that force, they have objections to the DP, these are normal, but the problem is that there is no other way than unity to face this evil that we have before us. And all other variants, only divide the power of the opposition.” – declared Berisha.

Meanwhile, during the press conference, when asked about the opposition’s scenarios, Berisha declared that it remains a secret, but said that it will be special from other protests.

“This is not the first protest. I have been to others, but this one is special. This is another protest, it is a protest in the square. They were protests with actions. The scenario tomorrow (today) will be fully announced that the enemy should not know all our tactics.” – said Berisha.

It is learned that the leader of the democrats will be accompanied in today’s protest by dozens of young people from the Democratic Party Youth Forum and they will march from the blue headquarters towards the Prime Minister’s Office.

It is not known whether this will be the opposition’s last national protest before the parliamentary elections or whether there will be others, but what is worth noting is that the demand for a caretaker government seems to have faded, and so has the alleged “civil disobedience.”
