After receiving the seal, the Democratic Party has another bigger battle, that of opening the fair competition in the party and restoring the figures and a new leadership. This is what Rudina Hajdari said in the Ditari studio with Bruna Çfligu on A2 CNN, a day after the Court of Appeal decided to pass the DP seal to Sali Berisha. Acknowledging the merits of the historical leader of the DP for the victory of this battle, Hajdari says that it is time for him to leave and for this party to be reformed in order to aim for the next elections.
“With the victory of this battle, the DP has another battle, which is a new leadership of the DP. A real new opening of the DP, the return of many people and the return of new figures. I think that Mr. Berisha won a very big battle with the return of the PD seal, it was also his battle and that of many other Democrats who showed support for Reestablishment, but what is preventing Mr. Berisha are two things; the first to complete its cycle. He will always be the spiritual leader of the DP, but as the DP has a past, it also has a future and since the future of the DP must be modern and with new figures during this time of reformation of the DP. We must do what is possible to revive that DP to absorb that gray electorate. The aim should be to win the next elections”.
At the moment, she says that she does not see this spirit in the DP, but appeals for this political force to look towards the next 30 years. She calls on Berisha to open the real race in DP for the new leadership, without people delegated by him, as this, Hajdari emphasizes, would be the final death for DP.
“I do not see this spirit of openness in the PD at the moment and it is something that must be touched and discussed and Berisha with his vision and wisdom must understand that he has fulfilled his mission, brought honor to the country by returned the DP stamp and symbol. It is time for DP to look to the future, for the next 30 years, but also the next 9 months will be very important and it must unfold its vision and mission for the new leadership. It should convene the DP congress, have new elections, promote the real race in the DP. There should be no manipulable race. If we have people delegated by Berisha at the head of DP, this will be a final death for DP. This is a key moment for DP and we will strengthen it and it will be competitive in the next elections”.
Hadari considers the declaration non grata by the USA a personal problem of Sali Berisha, which he must solve through the courts. According to her, Lulzim Basha has done the biggest damage to PD.
“Berisha has a personal problem related to the USA, and he has to solve it through the courts, lawyers, and obviously as the president of the DP he affects our relations and the approach of the DP to the public. It makes leadership less credible. Berisha has his role in PD, every day there are people who consider him as a spiritual leader. You have to face it yourself. If I were in his place, I would not allow him to influence the DP, he has often influenced. Berisha has to solve it with the USA and this may change in the future. It is Berisha’s personal matter. What harmed the DP the most is Basha’s move, which tore the party apart. Basha did not belong to God in that form, it was a knife in the back”.
Asked if he believes in justice, Hajdari said that one should not cast mud on these institutions, while emphasizing that the days when politics influenced the judiciary are gone.
“You shouldn’t throw mud on the court when you don’t agree and when you agree to support it. And the courts are divided, there are people who have been questioned by the way they have been promoted. We are closing the cycle of justice reform. I support SPAK as an institution, obviously it is not perfect, but we must let justice work independently and we, as politicians, do our best not to influence the judgment or throw mud on justice. It will have an impact, but the days of the courts of that time are gone and politics is no longer so influential”.
And the last message that Hajdari has for the Democratic Party is: “Today is the moment to return to the bosom of the party, but the solution is not simply to denounce the acts of the government, corruption is cancer, but the opposition must focus on new ideas, how will it would be Albania if DP was the governing force”.
