SP General Secretary Blendi Klosi, after a meeting with Shkodra’s socialists on re-energization, did not comment on the more than 6-hour testimony of Tirana mayor Erion Veliaj in SPAK the day before.
Klosi said that the new justice was built with the will and votes of the SP and that they decided not to comment on SPAK’s decisions with the aim that the police do not interfere in the decision-making of the new justice.
Klosi also spoke about the upcoming elections of 2025, saying that the SP is working to get the fourth mandate as well as about the Electoral Reform, stating that until now it has stalled due to a lack of will from the opposition, hoping that the Parliament will now approve it with 84 votes. although even this time it is impossible to realize the vote of the immigrants or even the depoliticization of the Electoral Commissions.
SPAK is knocking on the doors of the SP and has already come pretty close to the dome, the next at the doors of SPAK is Erjon Veliaj, who stayed for more than 6 hours in the Special Prosecutor’s Office, does it bother you?
Klosi: SPAK or the entire new justice system is a structure built with the will and the votes of the socialist party, a new justice system which will need to achieve this in the eyes of public opinion, that is to judge every case in it which is judged to need to be analyzed, studied, verified and then judged. So we have no concerns regarding what the citizens actually want in our country, to have a justice which has impunity as the first principle. So we will be open and we will not judge and we will not comment on any action of the new justice.
The fact that Veliaj went to SPAK, is it a shock for SP because he is the most important mayor in Albania?
Klosi: I believe I gave the explanation, I have given it often, I have no problem repeating it, we have already made a decision not to comment on any action of the new justice. We have established this new justice with the first principle that politics should not interfere in its decision-making.
Are you preparing for the 2025 elections or even early elections because there is a lot of talk that there may be early elections?
Klosi: Regarding the electoral process, we are only one year from the day of the 2025 elections, very little time for a political force that takes politics seriously, is serious about contact with people, for a political force that wants to get the fourth mandate and a political force that seeks to win again as we won in the last local elections everywhere in Albania.
Since the Electoral Reform is on the verge of failure due to deadlines, how many chances are there to fulfill what has been requested by the internationals because there is a lack of spirit of cooperation between the political forces and deadlocks often occur?
Klosi: The Electoral Reform is the reform of an electoral code which requires 84 votes in the Parliament and the legislator, when he built the Constitution and the law, thought that there would be conscious political forces that would want to sit at the table and negotiate among themselves. and make decisions regarding important laws of the country. The lack of will on the part of the opposition left us in a situation which has already been addressed to the Parliament and I firmly believe that the Parliament will have the will with 84 votes to implement some issues related to the Electoral Reform and we would very much like to to realize the vote of immigrants, we would very much like to realize the depoliticization of the Electoral Commissions, but the lack of opposition for a long time in that commission made it impossible for us to find discussion, negotiation and decision-making in the commission.
What were the reasons for this meeting that took place in PS Shkodër?
Klosi: Today in Shkodër, together with Elisa and the coordinating council of SP Shkodër District, we evaluated to the maximum the entire process of re-energization in every socialist organization of this district where we really have a new surprise in terms of civic engagement, new trends in the party, the number of new members of the party and of course a commitment to have a pretty good well-organized structure. On May 10th and 11th we will have a ‘one member one vote’ voting process where the entire SP membership will be asked to come and vote for delegates to the Congress which will be equal between ladies and gentlemen in our lists. There will be lists which will be more than 3/4 with new members in terms of the new Congress of the SP to express all this new energy that the SP has received in the Shkodra District.
Together with the coordinating council, we tried to complete the tasks we have within the framework of the ‘Proud of Albania’ tour that the party chairman and Prime Minister Edi Rama will undertake throughout the country to mobilize all Albanian citizens in terms of this great pride that Albania reaching out to immigrants wherever they are. SP is a party that wins because it works hard.
