The elections for the European Parliament have ended, while in Greece the “New Democracy” of Kyriakos Mitsotakis has won with a large margin from the opponents of SYRIZA.
According to real-time results from the Hellenic Ministry of the Interior, “New Democracy” is winning with 27.9% of the vote and leading by a double-digit margin, as SYRIZA received only 14.8%. In third place is PASOK with 12.9%, while Hellenic Solution and KKE are dueling for fourth place in these elections.
In addition to the victory of Mitsotakis’s party, the important fact is that with 50% of the votes counted so far, among the New Democracy MEP candidates, the elected mayor of Himara, Fredi Beleri, ranks third.
The list is headed by journalist Giorgos Attias with 3775, followed by Vangelis Meimarakis (2868) and Fredi Beleri (2473). Next come Manolis Kefalogiannis (2003), Eliza Vozeberg (1941), Eleonora Meleti (1541) and Vassilis Kontozamanis and the other minority Pirro Dhima.
According to the projections of the Ministry of the Interior, seven parties will have MEPs in the new European Parliament. Under development is a thriller about the party that will take the 21st mandate, as it moves between the Voice of Reason, the Hellenic Solution and the KKE.
